This June, the vibrant streets of Lausanne resonated with a powerful, universal message: “the right to be oneself.” Amidst a historic turnout at Lausanne Pride 2026, our team at MuslimPride.org took a profound step forward by participating in the Walk of Faith, an inclusive initiative championed by local spiritual allies.

For many LGBTQI+ individuals across the globe, especially within the Muslim world, faith and queer identity are weaponized against one another by traditional institutions. Our presence at the march was a visible, living testament to the truth that your faith is your strength, and your identity is your pride.

During the event, we had the distinct honor of meeting and walking alongside dedicated members of the Walk of Faith from the Catholic Église Vaud and representatives linked with the Pastorale des familles de Genève. Standing together in solidarity, we shared stories of resilience, discussed the unique spiritual struggles faced by queer believers, and celebrated the growing movement toward absolute religious inclusion in Switzerland and beyond.

Seeing the rainbow flag flying alongside symbols of deeply held faith—and engaging with local Christian allies who recognize the unconditional love of the Divine for every human being—reinforced our global mission. We may come from different theological traditions, but we share the exact same conviction: no one should ever have to choose between their relationship with God and their true self.

Why is the discussion surrounding faith and the LGBTQI+ community so critical?

When institutional forces attempt to erase queer people from spiritual spaces, they inflict a deep form of isolation. For isolated queer Muslims in high-risk regions, knowing that spaces exist where faith and identity are celebrated together provides life-saving validation. Our dialogue with the inclusive Catholic community in Vaud proves that when inclusive religious movements unite across borders and traditions, we build an unshakeable digital and physical sanctuary for those surviving in silence.

Our visibility at Lausanne Pride 2026 was just the beginning. We will continue to champion the voices of queer believers everywhere, ensuring that our spiritual homes grow as open, safe, and loving as the Divine intended.
